hearts & stars

for lf

1.
curious cats
joined by sun and moon
and nearly as far apart.

i enjoy the effervescence
of zero gravity orbit,
but pray
for an eclipse.

2.
circumstance is a strange thing.
it seems to stand in the way
when, actually,
it slowly, sweetly
opens spaces and bides time;
makes room for revelations and
well-timed whispers.

the encounter (napowrimo #5)

part 1

felt hands and hips
before i saw your face;
let myself fall into a slow wine
forgetting the club rule:

always watch for signals
from forward-facing girlfriends
when being danced with from behind...

abandoned myself to the rhythm...
first the dj's
then yours.

but it was cool
'cause i turned around
and the strong hands
were cloaked in pretty brown skin
the full lips were a nice bonus.

i wondered
what you looked like
in full sun,
away from disco balls
and fog machines.

on a whim,
i kissed you goodbye.
you whispered an island breeze
and i smiled,
grateful.

note

i think of you far more often than i should.

your sweetness, clarity of spirit, intelligence and way with words practically compel me to want you.

you bear the water i swim in...

i don't mean to imply it's a forever thing.
i am not the mother of your children or the apple of your eye.

...and i don't need to be.

what i need is a little of your honey rubbed into my sore spots.
i'll return your favors with deep kisses and fire warmth.

...if you like.
it's up to you.

i won't push this time.  only wait.

encounter

hello again...

i saw you today,
but you didn't see me.

it's just as well...

knowing this is an affair of the aura
doesn't ease the ache in my chest
or kill the inclination to bury my face in your neck
and go wherever you're going.

to some part of me,
you are walking honey,
a living offering;

i want you
for my altar
to keep the spirits close.

...your smile can do that, you know.

but that wouldn't be fair,
would it?

a story.

once upon a time there was a woman
and she met a man.

she loved the man through things
despite other things
and above and beyond the rest.

but the yang spilled across the curves and swirls, overcoming the yin...
too many arguments
bloody battles
days and nights alone.

the man was used to wielding a sword
but the woman couldn't weave light through the armor.

so she left.

heavy hearted
wounded
exhausted.

however, destined to never be alone for long, she soon encountered sweetness.
battle fatigue gave way to smiles
brilliant afternoons
long nights
and glittering laughter.

slowly, she laid down the sword and shield,
dusted off her honeypot,
and breathed
fresh air
in the presence of a truer reflection.

...thank you for being an element in the (r)evolution.
